What Diamond Grinding Actually Does

Diamond grinding uses a machine fitted with diamond segmented discs to mechanically abrade the surface of the concrete, removing a thin layer and opening up the slab’s natural pores. That process creates what’s called a surface profile, essentially a slightly roughened texture at a microscopic level that gives a coating something to physically grip onto.

Without that profile, a coating is basically sitting on top of a smooth, sealed surface with nothing to bond to beyond simple adhesion. With it, the coating mechanically keys into the concrete itself, which is a much stronger bond.

Why Grinding Beats the Alternatives
